SMALL-GROUP Tutoring

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SMALL-GROUP SESSIONS?

Small-group tutoring offers a number of benefits, including:

  • Peer learning: Students can learn from each other and collaborate on assignments.

  • Increased motivation: Students are more likely to be motivated to learn when they are working with their peers.

  • Diverse perspectives: Students gain a broader understanding of concepts by learning from and with others who may approach problems differently.

  • Enhanced communication skills: Students develop their ability to articulate ideas and explain concepts to others, solidifying their own understanding.

  • Improved social development: Small groups foster a sense of community and help students develop important social skills like teamwork and collaboration.

HOW MANY LEARNERS ARE IN A SMALL-GROUP SESSION?

To ensure focused attention and effective learning, small groups are carefully curated, typically ranging from 2 to 5 students. We find younger learners thrive in groups of 2 or 3, while older students benefit from the collaborative dynamics of 4 or 5 learners. Groups are determined by student ability and academic need as well as personality styles.

what is the structure of small-group sessions?

Small-group tutoring sessions are typically 60-90 minutes long and include a combination of instruction, practice, and discussion.
